On Jan. 15th, approved by the State Council, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China released the 2018 list of persons enjoying the State Council special allowance. Chief Engineer Ma Xiangming of our institute was successfully selected into the 2018 list of persons enjoying the State Council special allowance.

On June 24th, the second “Zhuyuangua” promotion conference themed of “A Red World of Watermelon along the Ancient Roadside” by Shuangjiang Town, Dongyuan County, Heyuan City was held in Shuangjiang Town, Dongjiang County. Qiu Yanqing, Group Leader of the fifth supervision and guidance group of Ancient Post Road in South Guangdong and Dean of Guangdong Urban & Rural Planning and Design Institute attended the conference and delivered a speech. 

On June 22nd, the "Guangzhou New Observation" Village Revitalization and the Southern Guangdong Ancient Post Road Academic Roundtable Meeting jointly organized by Guangzhou Social Science Association, Jinan University, and Nanfang Daily was held in Jinan University. Guo Zhuangshi, deputy director of Provincial Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department attended the meeting and made a keynote speech.

On the afternoon of May 18th, the Chief Engineer's Office specially planned one Urban Renewal Project -- on-site inspection activity in Guangzhou Dongfanghong Creative Industry Park, with a view to learn the advanced experience of successful cases of old city urban reconstruction in terms of the operation and management. The inspection activity was led by Li Jianping, Deputy Chief Planner, and 18 technicians from the institute participated in the study and exchange.

From April 17th to 19th, 2018, the 2018 first phase of registered urban and rural planner continuing education training course of Guangdong Province, co-sponsored by the Guangdong City Planning Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Provincial Planning Association") and the Shenzhen Municipal Planning Association, was successfully opened in Shenzhen Science Museum. 

On the morning of April 15th, under the guidance of the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Guangdong Province, Seminar on Conservation, Restoration and Utilization of Ancient Post Roads in Southern Guangdong, organized by the institute, and co-organized by the International Urban Management Association (headquartered in the United States), the Guangdong City Planning Association and the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau of Conghua District was held in Conghua, Guangzhou. 

On April 11, the institute signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Dongguan Binhai Bay New District and Dongguan Port Management Committee (hereinafter referred to as “the New District”) in Dongguan. 

With the purpose to enhance design capabilities and strengthen trans-departmental and transdisciplinary cooperation, the institute officially launched the sixth “Southern Guangdong Cup” design competition in April 2018.
